" The third people to colonize Ireland were led by Nemed, who arrived inIreland in the age of the world 2859. They had set sail from Scythia in afleet of 22 barks, but had went astray while on the open sea. Theirvoyage had lasted for a year and a half and only nine people remained,Nemed along with 4 warriors and 4 women. When they arrived in Irelandthey erected forts and plains and multiplied until they numbered 8060 menand women. Nemed also had to defeat the Formorians, which he did in threegreat and famous battles. But it came to pass that another plague visitedIreland and killed King Nemed and a great number of his followers. Nemeddied on the Great Island in Cork Harbour.
Then the Formorians returned to subjugate the weakened Nemedians. The newNemedian King Fergus, led the revolt against the Formori on Tory Island.Fergus succeeded in killing Conann, King of the Formori, before Morc MacDela, another Formorian chief, arrived with his army and slaughtered16,000 Nemedians. Only thirty survivors of the sons of Nemed were leftalive. These were forced to leave, driven out in three bands. Those thatwent to Albion were led by Briotan Maol, from whom it took it's name(Britain). Those that went to Greece were enslaved and forced to carrythe fertile land to the rocky hills in leather bags - which is why theywere called Fir Bolg (Men of the Leather bags). The third part went tothe Northern Lands and became the Tuatha De Danann (often wronglyinterpreted as meaning "The children of Dana". "
Note David F. Dale also says:
"The Tuatha de Danann came from four great cities, and brought many magictreasures with them, including from Falias the famous Lia Fail - Thestone of destiny, said to scream when only the rightful king sat on it.Eochaid Mac Erc was the high king of the Fir Bolg when the Tuatha DeDanann arrived in Ireland. "
David F. Dale reports that the Formorians returned and, takingadvantage of the Nemedians devastation by plague, subjugated them. LaterKing Fergus of the Nemedians killed Connan King of the Formori, beforeMore Mac Dela. But then another Formorian chief showed up and slaughter16,000 Nemedians.
"Only thirty survivors of the sons of Nemed were left alive. These wereforced to leave, driven out in three bands. Those that went to Albionwere led by Briotan Maol, from whom it took it's name (Britain). Thosethat went to Greece were enslaved and forced to carry the fertile land tothe rocky hills in leather bags - which is why they were called Fir Bolg(Men of the Leather bags). The third part went to the Northern Lands andbecame the Tuatha De Danann (often wrongly interpreted as meaning "Thechildren of Dana)". (Chapter 3.3)
"3.4 The Fir Bolg
The men of the bags, forced, as we have said, to suffer seriousindignities in Greece, decided to take drastic measures. They rose up,together with the Fir Domhain and the Fir Goidel, and overcame theiropressors and sought refuge away from their captivity. These tribes fledback to Ireland, where they seem to have settled permanently, thoughlegends indicate that they were again subject to the Formorians.
3.5 The Tuatha De Danann
This group of settlers are, to most historians, the most significant racein the Celtic world."

David Dale suggests the the The Tuatha De Danann legend is the originstory of gods not humans, perhaps ancient Celtic gods that the Druidsworshiped. They brought the Stone of Destiny to Ireland. They came toIreland from four great cities and after initial an alliance the previousinhabitants, the Fir Bolg under high king Eochaid Mac Erc, turned onthem but were defeated by the technologically superior Tuatha de Dannan. They were later defeated by the Formorians then later on saved by thereleader Lugh Lamfada, who defeated and killed the Formarian King Balor.
