Mrs. Elma Stockton Dies; Services Today
Mrs. Elma Rosetta Stockton, 82, of Columbus route one, die d at 2:20 Friday afternoon
in the city hospital where she had been a patient only a fe w hours. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
The daughter of Adam and Matilda Douglas Lane, Mrs. Stockto n was born July 14,
1877 in the Stoney district two miles east of Columbus, whe re she grew to womanhood. She attended grade school at Wirt onia. On Oct. 2, 1895, in Princeton she married James Alber t Stockton, who died in 1903.
Mrs. Stockton and Jess David Stockton of Stippville were m arried in 1906 at Coalgate, Okla. For 30 years the couple l ived at Stippville before moving to Columbus in 1946. Mr. S tockton died in 1947.
Mrs. Stockton continued to live in Columbus until 1958 whe n she moved to the home
of a daughter Mrs. Russell Jarrett, on Columbus route one . Four children preceded her in death. She was a member o f the First Methodist Church of Coalgate, Okla.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Tom Robson of Los A ngeles Calif., Mrs. Tom
Salem of Columbus route two and Mrs. Jarrett; two sons Albe rt Stockton of Richmond, MO. and Walter Stockton of Havilan d, Kans; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and thre e great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews als o survive.
Singers were Mrs. Warren Stover, Mrs. Marvin Starkweather , Cleo and Clarnece Allen, accompanied by Mrs. Cleo Allen, . Mrs. Wilma Robinson was the organist for the service.
Interment was in the Park cemetery. Pallbearers were Davi d Davison, George Janeski, Ralph Ridley, Victor Bell, Bil l Henderson and Jim Brumback.
