  • Notes
    • A). John Sr. Blair did make the voyage to America it would seem withhis mother and siblings as per Annie Love Blair's notes of January1894. It would be appropriate also to assume here that since JohnSr.'s father had died on the voyage to America that his mother had ayoung family to support upon their arrival to America. It is alsolikely that John Sr. and his family lived near the Love family inPennsylvania as well at least a portion of the time since he and ElizaLove met and married there.
B). In the 1870 Federal census records, John B. was living with hisfather John Sr. after his mother's death in 1868. According to thecensus for John Sr. the value of his property was $2500.00, and hispersonal estate was of $600.00. This is no little means at this timein the economics of America. John Sr. was listed as working in afoundry for the 1870 census. It does not state if he was a laboureror a supervisor or a metal worker. The census does clear up one thingthough, since he was the only adult listed, he told the census takerthat he was born in Ireland, not Pennsylvania. Anne is now livingwith her grandmother Mary A. Love and her uncle Alexander Love inBucks County, Pennsylvania per the census records also.
C). It is unknown as to why the children, John B., and Anna, went tolive with their uncle Alexander Love in Henry County, Illinois by the1880 Census record. And as far as to what may have become of JohnSr., all we know at present about him is that he had a paralysis whenhe died with an unknown cause or history. How long he suffered withthe paralysis prior to his death is unknown.
